PIGMENT SPOTS
The skin contains cells that produce pigment (melanocytes). This pigment (called melanin) gives color to skin and hair. It happens that the cells produce too much or too little pigment. Dark spots (hyperpigmentation) or light spots (hypopigmentation) appear respectively. If the pigment cells are missing, skin and hair are white and translucent. This is called depigmentation.
